York, PA – Two new salt-storage sheds for York County, including one at the Yocumtown exit of Interstate 83, should be finished by Wednesday, said Greg Penny, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.
Crews with Miller Brothers Construction of Lewisburg are replacing 12 tarp-covered salt-storage facilities in District 8, which includes York County. It is doing similar work in another district as well.
The contractor will be paid nearly $2.6 million, Penny said.
The footers for the Yocumtown shed were laid earlier this month, Penny said. Crews started putting in the supports and studs Dec. 9.
It was 75 percent complete as of Thursday, Penny said.
Crews have been working long hours, seven days a week, to build the shed, Penny said. If the sheds are not finished by the deadline, the contractor faces a penalty.
The other shed being replaced in York County is at 3441 Blue Hill Road in Manheim Township.
