How to Find Large Shed Plans
“We’re going to need some large shed plans” you say when a 10×12 isn’t big enough anymore. You might be needing a barn to keep horses or other animals. You might even need to store vehicles or create temporary sleeping quarters. There are horse barn and large shed kits available from commercial suppliers. You may be lucky and find what you are looking for but more often they won’t quite match your needs or be more expensive than you would like. Fortunately, you do have an excellent alternative if you are a practical person – build the shed yourself. Building your own large shed can be a large undertaking so we will make sure you are well prepared.
Preparation Stage – Large Shed Planning:
Your first step is to find the area where you want to put your shed or barn. You will need to focus on areas with level ground and ideally good drainage. You may also want plenty of sunlight to keep your shed or barn dry. You will be working with exact measurements so it is important to map out your area in preparation for deciding on your shed dimensions.
Locating Plans For Large Sheds
The plans should show a diagram or image of the completed shed. Since you are building a larger shed you will need to look into your local planning laws. Large Shed plans can be found in good books on the subject – go to your local library and bookstore and you are sure to find something good. Your timber or hardware store will also be able to help you out if you ask – they may even be able to provide you with contacts of professionals who can advise you.

Large Shed Essentials:
Constructing larger sheds is more difficult than building smaller sheds. As a large shed builder you should be aware of some important things. Firstly you need enough space – not only for the shed itself but also to store the materials as you are building it. Larger area materials are going to mean heavier materials – You are going to need some help. You will need to ask one or two of your friends to assist with the construction. A larger shed, means a larger project so you should treat it professionally. You will need to manage the construction process similar to if you were working on a commercial construction project. Create a work breakdown structure from the project plans and organise your project schedule. You will really make things easier for yourself if you can split the process into phases and complete them step by step. Locate tasks that require extra help and contact the people assisting you ahead of time.
